PULWAMA, SHOPIAN: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining activities, Police have intercepted and seized seven vehicles with illegally extracted mining minerals in Pulwama and Shopian.
During the operation, three tractors loaded with illegally extracted mining material were intercepted and seized. The accused persons have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Gh. Mohammad Bhat resident of Wahibugh, Mohd Yousnis Magray son of Farooq Ahmad Magray resident of Wahibugh and Waseem Raja son of Bashir Ahmad Magray resident of Wahibugh.
The vehicles along with the illegally extracted mining material have been taken into custody. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 122/2026 under the relevant provisions of law has been registered at PS Pulwama and further investigation has been taken up.
In Shopian, during routine patrolling a police party from Police Post Berthipora intercepted and seized three Dumpers and one JCB involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without mandatory permission. In this regard, FIR No. 67/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Keller and investigation has been set into motion.
J&K Police remains steadfast in its commitment to curb illegal mining and protect public resources. The general public is urged to cooperate with the police and report any information regarding such unlawful activities.
