RAJOURI: The fourth Mega Medical Camp under the ongoing healthcare outreach initiative in District Rajouri was organised today at the far-flung village of Kalka Mathiani of Block Kalakote, under the directions of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Rajouri Abhishek Sharma and Director Health Services Jammu Dr Poonam Sethi.

The camp was organised with the objective of providing quality healthcare services to residents of remote and underserved areas and ensuring better access to medical facilities at their doorstep.

The camp forms part of the district-wide healthcare outreach programme initiated following a review meeting chaired by District Development Commissioner Rajouri with the Health Department Rajouri, during which directions were issued for the continuous organisation of medical camps for one week in each block of the district, along with deployment of Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) vehicles to strengthen healthcare delivery in remote locations.

In compliance with these directions, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kalakote Dr Iqbal Malik prepared a one-week roster for medical teams for the period from 27 June to 3 July 2026.

During today's camp, more than 195 patients suffering from various ailments were examined and treated by the medical team. Free medicines were distributed and laboratory investigations were conducted on-site to facilitate timely diagnosis and treatment.

X-ray services were also provided using a handheld portable X-ray machine equipped with AI-enabled technology, under the ongoing 100 Days TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan aimed at strengthening early detection and management of tuberculosis cases in the area.
