ANANTNAG: In its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities, J&K Police has detained a habitual drug peddler under the provisions of the PIT NDPS Act in Anantnag.

The detained individual has been identified as Faizan Misgar, son of Abdul Rashid Misgar, resident of Mattan Chowk, Anantnag. Acting on a duly issued detention order and after completing all legal formalities, Anantnag Police executed the warrant and lodged the accused in District Jail Bhaderwah.

The preventive detention was necessitated due to his repeated involvement in drug peddling activities, which posed a serious threat to public health and safety, particularly among the youth. Despite earlier legal action, his continued involvement in the illicit narcotics trade warranted preventive detention under the PIT NDPS Act to prevent him from engaging in activities prejudicial to society.

Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate the drug menace and will continue to take stringent legal action against drug peddlers and other offenders. The public is urged to cooperate with the police by sharing credible information about drug-related activities to help build a drug-free society.
