PSA delegation meets J&K Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather; discusses key issues of private schools

SRINAGAR: A delegation of the Private Schools' Association (PSA), led by its Director Media & Communications, Dr. Owais Mattoo today called on J&K Legislative Assembly Speaker, Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather, at his office.

The meeting held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere to discuss key concerning issues of private schools, student welfare and the strengthening of the education sector. The delegation represented the Association under the leadership of its Chief Patron and NISA Joint Secretary, Dr. G.N. Var, President Bilal Ahmad Bhat and General Secretary (Organisation), Mohammad Syed Wani.

The meeting focused on the challenges being faced by private educational institutions, measures to strengthen the education sector, student welfare, quality education and the need for enhanced cooperation between the Government and private schools to ensure better academic outcomes for future generations.

During the interaction, the PSA delegation highlighted the significant contribution of private schools in providing quality education across Jammu and Kashmir despite numerous operational and financial challenges.

The delegation urged the Government to adopt a more collaborative approach and introduce supportive policies that would enable private institutions to continue serving students with greater efficiency and commitment.

Speaking on the occasion, PSA Director Media & Communications, Dr. Owais Mattoo, said the future of education depends upon a strong partnership between the Government and private educational institutions.

He said "To build a stronger future, the Government must actively support and address the challenges faced by schools. Private educational institutions have consistently contributed towards academic excellence and human resource development despite several constraints. We need to work hand-in-hand as true knowledge partners so that every child receives quality education in an enabling and progressive environment."

Responding to the delegation, J&K Legislative Assembly Speaker, Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather, appreciated the invaluable contribution of private schools towards the education sector and acknowledged their role in complementing the Government's efforts.

"Private schools are driving educational excellence and playing a vital role in shaping our students future. Their contribution to expanding educational opportunities and nurturing young minds is significant. Constructive engagement between all stakeholders will further strengthen the education sector and help us collectively work towards the larger interests of our students."

The Speaker patiently listened to the issues and suggestions raised by the delegation and assured them that genuine concerns relating to the education sector deserve serious attention. He emphasized that quality education remains one of the foremost priorities for the overall development of society.

PSA Zonal President Charari Sharief, Shameem Ahmad Bhat, stressed the importance of a cooperative approach between policymakers and educational institutions.

He said "True progress in education is impossible without collaboration. Government backing is essential to unlock the full potential of our private institutions. When both the Government and private schools work together with a shared vision, we can create an education system that is more inclusive, innovative and beneficial for every student."

The delegation reiterated PSA's commitment to working closely with the Government and all stakeholders for the continuous improvement of the education system in Jammu and Kashmir. It emphasized that private schools remain dedicated to maintaining high academic standards, promoting student welfare and contributing meaningfully towards nation-building through quality education.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing optimism about continued dialogue and cooperation to address the concerns of the private education sector and further strengthen the educational landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
