JAMMU: Giving a major boost to infrastructure development in Jammu North Assembly Constituency, MLA Jammu North Sham Lal Sharma today laid the foundation stone for development works worth approximately ₹5 crore under the SASCI Scheme in Lower Roop Nagar, covering Wards Nos. 65, 66 and 67 of Muthi-Paloura Mandal.

The projects comprise the construction and restoration of lanes, drains and other essential civic infrastructure aimed at improving road connectivity, strengthening the storm-water drainage network and expanding modern civic amenities. These works are expected to substantially improve the quality of urban infrastructure and enhance the day-to-day lives of residents by providing better civic facilities and a cleaner, more sustainable living environment.

The development works have been planned to address long-pending civic requirements by upgrading basic infrastructure, improving storm-water drainage, enhancing sanitation and creating durable public assets. Upon completion, these projects will significantly improve public convenience, ensure better civic services and provide fresh momentum to the planned, balanced and sustainable development of Jammu North Assembly Constituency.

On the occasion, Sham Lal Sharma welcomed the Government of India’s continued focus on strengthening infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir through the SASCI Scheme. He acknowledged the sustained financial support extended under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for projects aimed at upgrading urban infrastructure, enhancing civic services and improving public amenities. He said these initiatives reflect the Centre’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development and are creating durable public assets while improving the quality of life of citizens across the Union Territory.

Reiterating his commitment to the comprehensive development of Jammu North, Sham Lal Sharma said that infrastructure development remains one of his highest priorities and that every locality deserves quality civic amenities. He emphasized that multiple projects relating to roads, drainage systems, public utilities and community infrastructure are being implemented across the constituency with a focus on quality, transparency and timely execution. He expressed confidence that these initiatives would contribute significantly towards building a cleaner, safer and more developed Jammu North.

The foundation stone laying ceremony was attended by BJP District Vice President Shri Suresh Khajuria; Mandal President Shri Pankaj Padha; Former Councillor (Ward No. 66) Smt. Tripta Devi; President, Sharika Vihar Development Committee, Shri Rakesh Sharma, Executive Engineer, Jammu Municipal Corporation, Shri Sahil Arora; Assistant Executive Engineer Shri Danish Kotwal other officers of the JMC, party functionaries, distinguished citizens and local residents.
