JAMMU: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders organized plantation drives at different locations across Jammu & Kashmir, emphasizing environmental conservation, sustainable development, and public participation on the occasion of World Environment Day. 6714 plants were planted in 424 programmes across Jammu & Kashmir by the BJP leaders.

J&K BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma (CA), along with BJP District President Nand Kishore Sharma, and other senior leaders, participated in a plantation programme at the sacred Baba Kailakh Dev Shrine in Jammu North Assembly constituency. The leaders planted saplings and encouraged people to actively contribute towards protecting nature and preserving the environment for future generations.

Sat Sharma, while speaking on the occasion, said that environmental protection is not merely a responsibility but a collective duty towards society and future generations. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has transformed environmental conservation into a mass movement through initiatives such as “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, inspiring citizens to strengthen their emotional connection with nature. He asked every citizen to plant and nurture at least one tree, emphasizing that sustainable development can only be achieved through a healthy and balanced ecosystem.

Meanwhile, J&K BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, alongwith J&K BJP General Secretary Baldev Singh Billawaria, BJP Jammu South District President Naresh Singh Jasrotia, Principal Mussarat Jabeen, party leaders, school staff, students, and local residents participated in a plantation drive under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Shastri Nagar. A cleanliness drive was also conducted within the school premises to spread awareness about maintaining a clean and sustainable environment.

Ashok Koul, while speaking on the occasion, said that environmental conservation requires collective participation from all sections of society. He stressed that tree plantation and cleanliness are essential components of a healthy environment and urged citizens, particularly the youth, to become active partners in the mission of building a cleaner, greener, and environmentally conscious India. He added that individual efforts, when combined, can create a significant positive impact on the environment.

Baldev Singh Billawaria highlighted the importance of public awareness and continuous community participation in environmental protection. He said that tree plantation should not remain a one-day activity but should become a regular habit, contributing towards ecological balance and sustainable development.

BJP Mahila Morcha led by Neha Mahajan, President, BJP Mahila Morcha J&K organized an Awareness Seminar followed by a Plantation Drive at DAV Collegiate School, Lachipur, Kathua. The event witnessed the presence of J&K BJP General Secretary Gopal Mahajan, BJP District President Updesh Andotra, Geeta Bhagat, and others.

Gopal Mahajan encouraged citizens to actively support initiatives aimed at protecting nature and promoting a cleaner and greener society. Neha Mahajan inspired students to become active stakeholders in environmental conservation. BJP Industry Cell led by Deepak Gupta, also observed the environment day in presence of Baldev Singh Billawaria, and other party leaders in Industrial area by planting saplings and holing a seminar on the occasion.
