KATHUA: District Administration Kathua, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, on Friday distributed Niramaya Health Cards among 23 intellectually disabled persons. The scheme provides health insurance coverage to individuals affected by Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability and Multiple Disabilities. The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the administration’s commitment to take all necessary measures to improve the living conditions of all sections of society.

District Social Welfare Officer Varun Chaudhary informed that the scheme offers comprehensive benefits including OPD treatment covering medicines, pathology and diagnostic tests; regular medical check-ups for non-ailing persons with disabilities; preventive dental services; surgeries required to prevent worsening of disabilities or related congenital conditions; hospitalization and non-surgical treatments; ongoing therapies for disability management; alternative medicine and transportation costs related to medical care.
