SRINAGAR: Police in its relentless efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Kupwara, Sopore & Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession. A Police team of Police Post Drugmulla at a checkpoint established at Drugmulla Market intercepted a suspicious person identified as Shahrukh Shafi Mir son of Mohammad Shafi Mir resident of Kupwara. During search, substantial quantity of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. Subsequently, he has been arrested.

Meanwhile in Sopore, a police team arrested a drug peddler at a checkpoint established at Chinar Crossing, Warpora. He has been identified as Ghulam Hassan Dar son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar resident of Mohalla Teliyan Arampora, Sopore. During search, charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. In Kulgam, a Police team from Police Post Mirbazar while patrolling at Furrah near Railway Track intercepted a suspicious person identified as Farooq Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Ahmad Mir resident of Zadoora. During search, Poppy Straw like substance weighing 1.19 Kg was recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law has been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated. Efforts are being made to trace the source of the contraband and any possible links to a broader narcotics network operating in these areas.
