KUPWARA: Chief Agriculture Officer (CAO), Kupwara, in collaboration with the Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (CIPMC), Srinagar, organized a one-day training programme on the National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS) at Agriculture Complex, Kupwara. The programme aimed to strengthen pest surveillance and promote the effective use of digital technologies among Agriculture Department officials.

The training was conducted by Dr. Haroon Rashid Hakla, Assistant Plant Protection Officer (PP), CIPMC Srinagar, who provided comprehensive hands-on training on the NPSS Mobile App. Participants were guided through the app's features, including pest identification, quantitative surveillance, image uploading, and real-time data submission, enabling them to effectively utilize the platform for timely pest monitoring and management.

 The interactive session provided participants with practical exposure to the mobile application and addressed queries related to its field implementation.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Agriculture Officer (E), Kupwara, appreciated the initiative and lauded the NPSS Mobile App as an innovative tool that simplifies pest identification and management. He observed that the application would significantly enhance the efficiency of extension services and facilitate timely advisory support to the farming community. He emphasized that the adoption of digital pest surveillance systems would contribute to sustainable crop protection, improved agricultural productivity, and informed decision-making, ultimately benefiting farmers across the district.

The programme was attended by Peer Gulam Nabi, District Agriculture Officer (E), Kupwara, along with Manzoor Ahmad Ganie, SMS(SDL) and Fayaz Ahmad Mir, SMS (SDL) Nodal Officer for NPSS from District Kupwara and Agriculture Department officials from across the district.
