SRINAGAR: The Iqbal Park in Srinagar this evening reverberated with the poesy of legendary Kashmiri poet Rasul Mir as the Department of Culture organized a musical evening in the historic park to celebrate the legacy of Mir. The musical evening was organized under the Department of Culture’s maiden initiative “Art for All”, under which a series of programmes is being organized at public parks and places in Srinagar to revive, restore and promote J&K’s aesthetic and treasured heritage and make art and culture part of people’s daily lives.
Renowned Kashmiri artists Muneer Ahmad Muneer, Waseem-ul-Haq, Omar Bhat and Mohsin Dilshad performed at today’s programme at Iqbal Park by mesmerizing the audience with Rasul Mir’s cherished poetry. As a part of this initiative, Department of Culture is organizing next musical evenings at Badam Vaer, Srinagar on 24 May 2015 to celebrate the legacy of another famous poet Ahad Zargar.
The first programme of the series was organized at Badam Vaer, Srinagar on 17 May to celebrate the legacy of Shair-e-Kashmir, Ghulam Ahmad Mehjoor. The programmes are being coordinated by J&K Cultural Academy.
