BARAMULLA: Continuing its sustained crackdown against illegal extraction and transportation of minor minerals, Police in Baramulla conducted surprise checking at different locations in the district, leading to action against two tippers involved in violations of mining regulations.
During surprise checking at Audoora Nallah, a tipper bearing registration number JK02AL-0798 was found actively engaged in the illegal extraction and loading of minor minerals. The vehicle was immediately seized and challaned under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act for further necessary legal action.
In another action, a tipper bearing registration number JK03B-3211, loaded with sand, was intercepted at DPS Crossing. The driver, Fazil Ahmad Alie S/o Gh Ahmad Alie, R/o Waterhal, Budgam, failed to produce valid royalty/dispatch documents for the sand being transported. Accordingly, the matter was taken up with the Geology & Mining Department for necessary action under the applicable rules.
Police reiterates that illegal extraction, loading and transportation of minor minerals will not be permitted. Strict action will continue against violators in coordination with the concerned departments to safeguard natural resources and ensure compliance with mining regulations.
