BARAMULLA: The Department of Youth Services & Sports, District Baramulla, today commenced the Inter-Zonal District-Level Football Competition for Under-17 Boys at Prof. Showkat Ali Stadium, Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, with 18 educational zonal teams participating in the championship.
The opening day witnessed five competitive encounters, with young footballers displaying impressive skill, determination and sporting spirit. Dangiwacha defeated Wagoora 3–0, Baramulla defeated Singpora Pattan 2–0, Pattan defeated Chandanwari 3–0, Sopore defeated Rohama 2–1, while Singpora Kalan defeated Baramulla 3–0.
As per the competition schedule, six matches will be played tomorrow at the same venue. Each participating team will play three matches during the competition, providing the young players with further opportunities to demonstrate their talent and competitive spirit.
Meanwhile, the Inter-Cluster District-Level Cricket Competition for Under-19 Boys also commenced in Cluster Pattan, with four educational zonal teams competing at High School Andergam, adding further excitement to the district’s sporting calendar.
The Department continues to provide young athletes with competitive platforms to hone their skills while promoting discipline, teamwork, fitness and sportsmanship among school-going youth.
