JAMMU: A 4-Day Multilingual poetry festival organized by JKAACL in collaboration with P.G Department of Urdu, University of Jammu was inaugurated at Gyan Chand Jain Seminar Hall, University of Jammu. Speaker Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta was the Chief Guest while N. D Jamwal prominent Artist and Dogri Writer presided, Prof. Mohd Riyaz Ahmed, HOD Urdu, and Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium.
The Speaker State Legislative Assembly Mr. Kavinder Gupta while speaking on the occasion complimented all the participating poets and said that Dogri Language and Culture has rich old tradition which has the worth to produce standard poets, writers and intellectuals. This Dogri Mushaira was a great success and Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages deserves all appreciations for celebrating Independence of India by organizing poetry festival. He also hoped for further such activities.
In his presidential address, N.D Jamwal said that since last year, the initiative taken by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to celebrate Independence Day of India by organizing Mushairas in Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and other regional Languages provided a space to new comers, established poets of the respective language to recite their poems and interact with the young generations. While appreciating the decision of J&K Cultural Academy to collaboration with Urdu Department and involve the students fraternity has proven fruitful and an appreciable number of students participation needs to be appreciated.
In his welcome address, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn informed that J&K Cultural Academy has geared up activities in the field of letters, visual and performing arts and culture not only in the premises but also to the remote and rural areas of the region. He further said that Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages celebrated Independence Day in a big way by organizing a folk music and Dance Programme in collaboration with Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu on 13th of August 2015, presenting a composite culture of J&K State on 15th of August 2015 at Mini Stadium Parade in a function organized by Local Administration with participation of 60 artists and now JASHN_E AZADI a 4-day Multilingual poetry Festival has been inaugurated. He said that Academy is also organizing literary and cultural activities in all the districts of Jammu region in a phase manner.
The poets who recited their poetry in today’s Dogri Mushaira include- Sh. N.D Jamwal, Dr. Champa Sharma, Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri, Sh. Gianeshwar Sharma, Sh. Puran Chand Bargotra, Sh. Sandeep Singh Jamwal, Sh. Abhay Singh, Sh. Rakesh Tript, Sh. Inderjeet Kesar and Sh. Abhijeet Singh. The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Dr. Rattan Basotra, Asstt. Editor Dogri Dictionary and vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Mohd Riaz Ahmad, H.O.D Urdu. Tomorrow, on 19th of August, 2015 there will be a Mushaira in Hindi.
