- Appeal for celebrating the day with joy, enthusiasm
JAMMU: To celebrate upcoming Independence Day a special live music concert was organised at Government Women College, here today. Minister of State for Education, Information, and Culture Priya Sethi and senior leader Yudhvir Sethi were chief guests on the occasion. The concert was organised by RD & Kishore Fan Club to mark the celebrations of Independence Day 2015.
Director, Doordarshan Kendra Jammu Ms Anjali Sharma and Vivek Sharma from State Times Newspaper were guests of honour on the occasion. Prominent among others who attended the function include, Founder of the RD & Kishore Fan Club, Sunil Sharma, Principal, Government Women College, Parade Dr. Renu Goswami, Ms Mehra, Vinod Sharma, Kamal Sharma, Samit Sharma, Ravi Sharma, Parshant Bhat, Ms Tanvi Narula, Ms Renu Anthony, Manu Wahi and Ajay Kohli.
Appreciating efforts of the organisers, Priya said that musical concert on the occasion of the Independence Day is a novel concept and the club deserves special appreciation for the efforts. She said the Independence Day celebrations should be grand in every way and all should participate with enthusiasm and joy to mark the day, the country got freedom from the clutches of foreign rulers.
She said that on the day whole Nation salutes the freedom fighters who fought against the British colonisers and made supreme sacrifices for their mother land. “We are indebted to those great men and women of our country who stood against the oppressors and fought for ensuring that future generations are born in a free country,” she added.
While speaking on the occasion, Yudhvir Sethi lauded efforts of the singers and the organisers for organising the grand show to celebrate the Independence Day. He said music a potent tool by which younger generations can be made aware about importance of the Day. He said youth is future of the country and youth energy can be channelized into constructive nation building by making them realise the sacrifices which have been made by the freedom fighters for the nation.
“Our younger generations must be made aware about the great freedom struggle and the sacrifices with which the nation has won the independence,” he added. He said great work has been done by the countrymen to achieve the position which the country today enjoys in the world order but more efforts are needed by the young minds to make the nation a developed nation.
He called upon the organisers to hold more such events and take the message of nation building to every nook and corner of the state. Making strong appeal to fellow countrymen for celebrating Independence Day with joy and enthusiasm, Yudhvir said that the day should be celebrated by one and all and everybody should take a pledge to contribute for nation building. Local singers and artists enthralled the audiences with their mesmerising performances and the performers and the organizers were felicitated by the chief guests.
