JAMMU: The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences, Central University of Jammu, under the leadership of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, organized the “ChemForum Lecture Series-10” on November 7, 2025ChemForum serves as an academic platform where renowned experts introduce students to emerging and advanced areas of chemical sciences, fostering interaction between young minds, faculty members, and distinguished scholars from academia and industry.

Dr. Sujata Kundan, Head, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences, formally welcomed and introduced the invited expert, Prof. Prakash Biswas, Department of Chemical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee.

Prof. Biswas delivered an insightful lecture titled “Conversion of CO₂ and CH₄ to Synthesis Gas via the Tri-Reforming Process.” During the talk, he elaborated on the direct conversion of CO₂ to formic acid using nickel-based Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) catalysts. He also explained innovative assemblies capable of converting biogas into bio-CNG, which holds significant potential for fuel cell applications.

The lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 60 postgraduate students (M.Sc. Chemistry), research scholars, and faculty members. Faculty present at the event included Dr. Sujata Kundan (Head), Dr. Satyanarayana Battula, Dr. Princy Gupta, Dr. Akshay Kumar, Dr. Indranil Chatterjee, Dr. Gagandeep Kour, Dr. Ritu Sodhi, and Dr. Amir Fayaz. The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Indranil Chatterjee, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Chemical Sciences.
