JAMMU: The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Government College of Education today organized an Innovation Boot Camp-cum-Exhibition on “Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Career Opportunities.” The Boot Camp was held under the patronage of the Principal of the College, Dr. Jyoti Parihar, whose leadership and commitment to fostering a culture of innovation have consistently encouraged the institution to conduct impactful programs for students' professional growth.

Dr.Parihar urged students to cultivate creativity, critical thinking and an entrepreneurial mindset to meet the demands of the modern world. The resource persons for the Boot Camp were Assistant Director DEACC Jammu Mukhlis Ali and Career Counselling Officer, DEACC Navdeep Kour. Mukhlis Ali emphasized the importance of building a culture of self-employment, entrepreneurship, and start-ups, describing it as a modern day need. He elaborated on the Central and UT government schemes, including Start-Up India, Stand-Up India and the Youth Start-Up Loan Schemes available in Jammu & Kashmir, encouraging students to utilize these platforms to develop innovative ventures.

Navdeep Kour guided students on career avenues, skill enhancement, employability requirements and government-supported counselling services. She highlighted the significance of aligning personal skills with emerging opportunities and encouraged students to actively participate in capacity-building initiatives.

Alongside the Boot Camp, an innovation exhibition was organized by the Department of Bio-Sciences in the college science laboratory, displaying a variety of innovative scientific models developed by students. The exhibition, held under the supervision of Prof. Sunanda Rani (Head, Department of Bio-Sciences), showcased students’ creativity, problem-solving abilities and enthusiasm for scientific innovation.

Earlier, the program began with a welcome address by Prof. Priyanka Mahajan (Convener IIC), who highlighted the vision and objectives of the Innovation Council, including nurturing innovation and entrepreneurial competencies among students. The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Shubhra Jamwal. The Boot Camp was coordinated by Prof. Priyanka Mahajan (Convener, IIC) along with Dr. Shubhra Jamwal and Prof. Chanchal Singh, the members of IIC.
