JAMMU: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu organized the valedictory ceremony of the General Management Programme for Middle Management – Batch II for NHPC Limited (A Government of India Navratna Enterprise) at the Nyaya Classroom, Vedanta MDP Centre, IIM Jammu on 22nd Nov 2025. Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research presided over the valedictory ceremony. The valedictory ceremony was graced byDr. Pratik Maheshwari, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, IIM Jammu; Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Program Director, IIM Jammu and Dr.Jaganth.G, Program Director, IIM Jammu.
Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Faculty and Research, IIM Jammu, highlighted the strong sense of belonging among participants and the institute’s participant-centric approach reflected in positive feedback and creation of WhatsApp groups for the participants. He noted Jammu’s distinction of hosting three Institutes of National Importance along with a strong NHPC presence and emphasized that the program was carefully aligned with industry needs.
He encouraged participants to explore academic pathways post-retirement, reaffirming that academia has no age bar and that PhD programs for working professionals enable smooth transitions from corporate roles. Appreciating NHPC as one of the finest PSUs, he reiterated IIM Jammu’s vision of being a business school with a difference, and societal impact, assuring more impactful and quality executive education training programs and urging participants to contribute to mankind and national progress.
Dr. Pratik Maheshwari, Co-Chairperson, Executive Education and Consultancy, expressed happiness over the excellent feedback about the program, and such positive responses bring great energy to the team. He noted that the participants’ real-life challenges provided valuable insights and welcomed their suggestions for future improvements. He also informed them about the open MDPs offered by the institute for executives and encouraged them to explore these programs through the institute’s website.
Prof. Rajesh Sikka, Program Director, IIM Jammu, presented the program report and congratulated the participants for their active involvement, meaningful discussions, and dedicated project work. He noted that the teams worked sincerely throughout, even beyond regular hours. He highlighted that the program covered key areas such as finance, public–private partnerships, environmental and SWOT analysis, project life cycle, and sustainability. He added that the final sessions focused on conflict management and the role of emerging technologies, especially AI, in hydro sector projects. He concluded by stating that this marks the beginning of a lifelong learning journey.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates to the participants, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jaganth.G, Program Director, IIM Jammu. The valedictory ceremony culminated with the National Anthem, marking the completion of the programme.
Participants in their reflections shared that they felt a strong sense of belonging at the institute, right from the beginning. They expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to learn at an institution they regard as among the best in the world. They appreciated the excellent faculty, high-quality content, and the in-depth, practical knowledge shared throughout the program.
The customized training program for the power sector and NHPC, the engaging finance sessions, and the ethics-oriented, problem-solving approach were particularly valued.They praised the institute’s impeccable planning, coordination, punctuality, and seven-star learning and housing environment. Faculty members were commended for relating concepts to real-world scenarios, enhancing the overall learning experience. Participants concluded that the program was immensely fruitful and that the commitment and quality of education they received were truly beyond words.
The General Management Programme for Middle Management at IIM Jammu aimed to enhance managerial competencies, strategic thinking, and leadership capabilities among NHPC executives, aligning with the vision of creating dynamic leaders for a rapidly evolving business environment.
