SRINAGAR: The ongoing 69th National School Games in Wushu (U-17 Category) witnessed remarkable performances from young athletes across the country, displaying exceptional skill and competitive spirit at the Indoor Sports Complex, Srinagar.
Among the Boys Section, the results were as follows: In the 45 kg weight category, Laithangbam from Manipur, Pankaj from Bihar, Tarun from Punjab, and Gulshan from Delhi exhibited commendable bouts. In the 48 kg category, Yumring from Arunachal Pradesh, Nikhil from Delhi, Asem from Manipur, and Mursalen from Jammu & Kashmir showcased their talent. In the 52 kg category, Kapish from Jammu & Kashmir, Divansh from Rajasthan, Victor from Manipur, and Shaurya from Uttar Pradesh impressed with their performances.
The 56 kg category saw Dhruv from West Bengal, Mahesh from Punjab, Mayank from Uttar Pradesh, and Maish from Rajasthan giving strong displays. In the 60 kg category, Ashish from Delhi, Vivek from Punjab, Anushul from Uttar Pradesh, and Sanjay from Madhya Pradesh performed notably well. The 65 kg category featured Divanshu from Maharashtra, Prince from Jharkhand, Rustum from Bihar, and Suryansh from Jammu & Kashmir. In the 70 kg category, Raj Kumar from Bihar, Izazul from Punjab, Kushshah from Uttar Pradesh, and Arhan from Jammu & Kashmir demonstrated fine skills, while in the 75 kg category, Sajad from Jammu & Kashmir and Anshuman from Rajasthan impressed the audience with their strength and technique.
In the Girls Section, the results recorded were equally impressive: In the 45 kg category, Gayatri from Rajasthan, Rishika from Delhi, Aarya from Chandigarh, and Aditi from Chandigarh displayed excellent performances. In the 52 kg category, Bhumika from Chandigarh and Javeria from Maharashtra showed great form. The 56 kg category saw Koijam from Manipur and Sakshi from Uttar Pradesh putting up strong performances.
In the 60 kg category, Kunal from Chandigarh, Sharvari from Maharashtra, and Laishram from Manipur performed exceptionally well. The 65 kg category witnessed remarkable bouts from Rutba from Jammu & Kashmir, Sejal from Maharashtra, Riya from Rajasthan, Kangabam from Manipur, Bhumika from Delhi, Samrodhi from Maharashtra, Almas from Rajasthan, and Taniya from West Bengal. In the 70 kg category, Riya from DCMC, Heisnam from Manipur, Shreya from Uttar Pradesh, Jiya from Jammu & Kashmir, Utkarsha from Madhya Pradesh, and Anushka from Maharashtra showcased great determination and sporting spirit.
The event continues to reflect the enthusiasm and talent of young Wushu athletes from across India, highlighting the growing stature of the sport under the aegis of the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports, Jammu & Kashmir. Interestingly Mursaleen(48 kg), Kapish(52kg), Suryansh(65kg), Mohd. Harseeb(80 kg), Jaya Manhas(48 kg), Rutba(65 kg), Arham(70) and Sajjad have played exceptionally well in the respective weight categories while qualifying for the final bouts being played on Friday at Indoor Sports Complex Wazir Bagh Srinagar. The team efforts are being polished under the qualified team of Coach Ajay Paul Gill, Manager: Farooq and Assistant Coach Abida.
