DODA: The District Administration Doda today organised a Public Outreach Programme under weekly Block Diwas initiative at Panchayat Phagsoo (A), Block Thathri. Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh presided over the public outreach program. The event commenced with a solemn Nasha Mukt pledge led by the Deputy Commissioner, reaffirming the districtâs commitment to eradicate the menace and establish a drug-free society. A large number of public representatives, ex-Sarpanchs and PRI members participated and projected multiple issues, demands and grievances before the Deputy Commissioner.
The locals raised a wide range of demands seeking establishment of a Health Centre, restoration and cleaning of the local filter plant, renovation and maintenance of the ThathriâPhagsoo road damaged in recent floods, drinking and irrigation water supply from river Chenab, ambulance service, ATM facility, JKRTC bus service, construction of Degree College building, posting of Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar, age relaxation for school admissions up to 6 years, Khidmat Centre, upgradation of the Middle School to High School, provision of playground, Fire and Emergency Service, land compensation, opening of a first-aid dispensary, development of botanical garden, promotion of tourism, ITI college, replacement of damaged electricity poles, adequate ration supply in winter, compensation for damaged houses, adequate electricity supply, water supply under JJM, construction of Tehsil building & repair and infrastructure improvement at the Thathri Degree College including availability of Principal and subject teachers.
Responding to the demands, the Deputy Commissioner issued on-spot directions to the stakeholder departments to look into each matter in a time bound manner. He directed CMO and SE PHE to assess the demand for a medical dispensary and ensure cleanliness and functionality of the filter plant. He instructed XEN PMGSY to take immediate action for the restoration of damaged roads, deploy required machinery, visit affected stretches and prioritise road safety measures. Regarding power-related concerns, he directed XEN JPDCL to repair damaged electricity cables, ensure timely restoration and formulate a proper power supply schedule for the area. The Food Department was instructed to ensure that the ration centre remains open at least two to three days a week for public convenience.
Addressing educational concerns, the DC assured that the demand for school upgradation would be taken up with the concerned authorities, and the issue of inadequate classrooms would be prioritised in the next planning cycle. He also instructed the Chief Agriculture Officer to organise awareness camps to promote the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and encourage farmers to enhance agricultural productivity with departmental support. The DC further urged the public to identify a suitable location for the proposed Tehsil building so that the estimation and planning process can begin without delay. He also stressed the importance of conserving natural water resources and encouraged collective efforts from the community.
The Block Diwas programme concluded with the Deputy Commissioner reaffirming the Administrationâs commitment to resolving all issues promptly and ensuring holistic development of the PhagsooâThathri region.
