SHOPIAN: As part of the ongoing 150th celebration of Vande Mataram,a series of commemorative events were today organized across tehsils of district Shopian including Barbug Imamsahib, Keegam, Keller, Shopian, Hermain,Chitragam and Zainapora.
The events were presided over by respective tehsildars while at Zainapora, the event was organised under the supervision of SDM Zainapora. The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers, officials, students and members of civil society, reflecting a strong sense of national pride and unity.
Speakers on the occasion highlighted the significance of Vande Matram in India's freedom movement and urged the youth to uphold the values of patriotism, harmony and service towards the nation.
At each venue, the day began with the singing of Vande Mataram followed by a range of activities including patriotic songs and cultural performances by students from various educational institutions. The celebration will continue throughout the week with a series of similar programmes to be held across the district.
