RAJOURI: Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the status of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) projects in the district and address bottlenecks hampering their timely completion.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed in detail the status of publication of the final award of village Aitti, which is pending and emphasized the need for expediting the process to facilitate project progress. He also directed the concerned authorities to ensure blacktopping of the existing stretches and to complete the pending blacktopping work on the Thanamandi road at the earliest.
The DC also took a detailed review of the maintenance of the drainage system along the RTS road and the issue pertaining to the Muradpur culvert, besides discussing the assessment of structures coming under package 6 and 7 of the BRO project.
While reviewing the compensatory afforestation of land measuring 848 kanal and 12 marla, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the Forest Department to ensure compliance with all environmental norms and timely execution of compensatory plantation works. He also reviewed the status of revenue papers of villages Lam and Mangal Devi falling along the BeripattanâJhullas road and directed the Revenue officers to expedite the requisite formalities.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated the importance of coordination between executing agencies and the district administration to ensure smooth execution of road projects that are vital for improving border connectivity and public convenience.
Among others, the meeting was attended by ACR Mohammad Jahangir Khan; AC Defence, Israr Mir; SDM Thanamandi, Abid Hussain; Ex En PWD, Aftab Anwar; DFO Nowshera, Shweta Deonia; representatives from BRO; Tehsildars and other district and sectoral officers.
