- Directs for on-ground monitoring, speedy recovery from defaulters
REASI: Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) 1.0 in the district. The Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed evaluation of the scheme’s implementation, focusing on beneficiary-wise progress, the pace of housing construction and disbursement of financial assistance.
Taking serious note of 34 non-starter cases—including 19 in Reasi town, 3 in Katra Municipality and 10 from the Katra Development Authority (KDA) area—DC Nidhi Malik asked for initiating recovery and ensuring strict compliance with scheme guidelines. “Recovery proceedings against defaulters be completed at the earliest in accordance with PMAY-U 1.0 norms,” she directed. It was informed that recovery action has already commenced in Reasi and Katra.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the progress of ongoing housing construction. The Executive Officer Municipal Council Reasi informed that 57 houses are at different stages of construction, while the Executive Officer Municipal Committee Katra informed that 75 houses have been completed under PMAY-U 1.0.
Emphasizing the importance of on-ground monitoring, DC Malik directed officers to intensify field visits, address bottlenecks promptly and extend necessary support to beneficiaries to ensure timely completion of all sanctioned houses. She also took serious note of pending cases under KDA jurisdiction and asked the concerned officers to initiate immediate corrective measures. CPO, Narinder Kumar, Dy. GM housing Board Jammu, EO MC Reasi and Katra were present in the meeting.
