• Locals appreciate district administration for resolving long pending issues

UDHAMPUR: To provide doorstep governance and ensure effective public grievances redressal of rural populace, Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai today chaired a Public outreach-cum-grievances redressal camp at Panchayat Ghar Dhalpar- Block Jaganoo. A large number of people from adjoining areas attended the camp and projected their demands and grievances.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Jugal Kishore; Assistant Commissioner Development, Om Parkash; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Dr Umesh Shan and other district officers were also present.

The people demanded adequate staff in educational institutions, augmentation of drinking water supply, up-gradation of the Jaganoo–Ghordi road to double-lane, addressing mobile network connectivity issues, replacement of damaged electric poles, supply of quality seeds and fertilizers, clearance of roads in ward No. 8, installation of an ATM, establishment of a veterinary centre, restoration of drinking water supply and maintenance of link roads, among other developmental concerns.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC sensitized the general public about the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and urged them to install solar panels to promote renewable energy. She directed bank officials to conduct financial awareness and inclusion camps to educate the public about the government welfare and social security schemes.

Responding to the issues raised by the public and former PRIs, the DC issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers to address genuine grievances on priority. Several issues were resolved instantly through departmental coordination. The DC further instructed officers from all departments to organize regular awareness camps to educate the rural population about government welfare and beneficiary-oriented schemes, ensuring that people can avail themselves of maximum benefits.

Highlighting the objective of the public outreach initiative, the DC stated that these camps are aimed at bringing administration closer to the people, enabling direct interaction between citizens and officials. She added that these platforms help the District Administration understand and address the multifaceted challenges faced by the public.

The DC emphasized the importance of spreading awareness about income-generating and livelihood-oriented schemes launched by the Government of India and the UT Government, encouraging people to participate actively for their socio-economic upliftment.
