KUPWARA: In order to take stock of essential amenities, progress of developmental activities and grievances faced by the general public, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara,  Ayushi Sudan today chaired a mega Block Diwas programme at Manigah in block Hyhama of Kupwara district. Among others, ACD Kupwara, CMO, CEO, DFO Kamraj, BDO Hayhama, Tehsildar Kupwara  BDO Hayahma and other District and Sectoral Officers and field functionaries attended the mega block diwas programme.

Speaking at the occasion, the DDC said that Government is committed to boost the livelihood of the people especially unemployed educated youth by providing different self employment generating schemes. She appealed the unemployed youth to come forward and establish their own income generating units like mushroom unit, sheep unit, polyhouse etc adding that major boost in rural economy is possible through agriculture and allied sectors.

Emphasizing the need for awareness of schemes among the public, the DDC directed the BDO Hyhama to hold an awareness camp in the area involving line departments especially Agriculture & allied departments so that the people especially unemployed youth could take benefit under different government schemes.

Regarding PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the DDC directed Manager CSC to complete all the pending registrations so that the people can get benefitted under the Yojana. The DDC stressed upon all officers and field functionaries to be proactive, responsive, accessible and visible to the people on the ground so that the purpose of the government schemes is fulfilled. 

On the occasion, people including youth and senior citizens from different areas of Hyhama block put forth various grievances before the DDC. The grievances/ demands pertained to road connectivity, macadamization of roads, electricity, water supply, playground and others. The DDC heard them patiently and passed on spot directions to the concerned officers for resolving the same on priority basis. 

Later, the DDC visited Subaya Behak in Hyhama area and inspected the ongoing macadamization of the local road. The local people also expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner for her visit to the area and demanded further extension of the road length in the village. Block Diwas programme were also held in sub divisions of Handwara, Karnah and Lolab.
