JAMMU:  Director Animal Husbandry Department Jammu, Dr. Sanjay Gupta today flagged-off a group of 25 progressive farmers on a four-day long Inter-state Exposure Tour to CSK HP Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur (Himachal Pradesh).

The tour, flagged-off from the office complex of the Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Talab Tillo, has been organized under the centrally sponsored, ATMA (Agricultural Technology Management Agency) scheme with an objective to introduce the farmers with advanced scientific dairy farming practices and livestock management.

The farmers would interact with experts, visit model dairy farms and witness demonstrations on scientific livestock feeding, breeding, disease management etc being adopted at the university.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director emphasized the importance of adopting modern animal husbandry practices for enhancing productivity and profitability in the livestock sector. He encouraged the farmers to gain practical knowledge from this training programme and share their learnings with fellow farmers upon their return. The farmers shall be accompanied by the staff of the Publicity Wing, led by Extension Officer, Dr. Mohammad Sajjad during the training programme.
