DODA: A grand Padyatra (Unity March) was organised in Doda today to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the officers of line departments, the Sports Department, students, NGOs, general public and NCC cadets, reflecting a powerful message of unity, patriotism and national integration.
The march was flagged off by ADC Anil Kumar Thakur along with Deputy Director Mera Yuva BharatâMY Bharat Khushal Gupta, from the DC Office Complex. At the outset, the officials from district administration and students recited the National Anthem creating an atmosphere filled with patriotic energy. The march was led by a van beautifully decorated with the Tricolour and a portrait of the Iron Man of India, while students from the government and private institutions raised inspiring patriotic slogans.
The Unity March concluded at Town Hall, where a colourful and heartfelt tribute was paid to Sardar Patel. The participants took a solemn pledge, reaffirming their commitment to foster unity, national integrity, aligning with the ideals of Sardar Patel.
Starting with the lighting of the traditional lamp by ADC Anil Kumar Thakur, ASP Headquarters Mohammad Aslam and Khushal Gupta, the programme unfolded into a cultural celebration. Students from Government Girls Higher Secondary School, GDC, ITI and other institutions presented vibrant cultural and patriotic performances showcasing Indiaâs unity in diversity.
Addressing the gathering, the ADC highlighted the remarkable role of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in unifying India into a single strong thread of integrity and harmony. He emphasized that Patelâs legacy must continue to inspire younger generations to work for peace, unity and national development.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Khushal Gupta, who appreciated the collective efforts of the administration, institutions and the people of Doda in celebrating the spirit of Ekta Diwas and honouring the Iron Man of India.
