ANANTNAG: Demonstrating its firm resolve to uphold peace and law in the district, Police in Anantnag has initiated legal proceedings for the cancellation of bail granted to 09 accused persons facing trial under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act – UAPA.

The action comes after a careful scrutiny of several UAPA cases revealed that a number of accused, while on bail, had breached the conditions imposed by the courts and were again found involved in activities detrimental to public safety and security. The violations were brought to light during continuous monitoring and case reviews carried out by the district police.

By moving for bail cancellation, Police aims to ensure that legal provisions are not misused to undermine public order or national security. This step reflects the force’s unwavering stand against any attempt to revive or strengthen terror networks in the region.

Reaffirming its commitment, Police continues to work relentlessly towards preserving peace and stability while pursuing measures to root out all forms of terror support structures and networks operating under any guise.
