SHOPIAN: A preparatory meeting regarding the formulation of the GIS-based Master Plan for Shopian, approved under AMRUT 2.0, was convened today under the Chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone here at Mini-Secretariat Shopian. The meeting aimed to streamline the process for preparation of a comprehensive and future-oriented Master Plan to guide the townâs sustainable urban development.
The ADDC stressed the need for inter-departmental coordination to ensure that all relevant data pertaining to 17 existing municipal wards and 26 peripheral areas proposed for inclusion in the planning area is provided within the stipulated time frame. He emphasized that timely and accurate data collection will enable effective planning and ensure that the Master Plan aligns with the vision of planned, sustainable and environment-friendly urban growth.
Detailed discussions were held on the modalities for collection and submission of spatial and non-spatial data required for the formulation of the GIS-based Master Plan. It was decided that all concerned departments shall nominate nodal officers to coordinate with the consultant and planning team for smooth and speedy execution of the process.
The Master Plan, once finalized, will serve as a blueprint for guiding future development, infrastructure creation, and efficient utilization of land resources in Shopian town and adjoining areas. The meeting concluded with directions for completing data finalization within the given timeline so that the draft Master Plan could be submitted for approval in due course. During the meeting, officers from all line departments including Revenue, JalShakti, PDD, R&B, RDD, Education, Health and other stakeholder agencies participated.
