- Senior Congress leader urges administration to expedite pending projects under PMGSY, R&B, and PDD; asks party workers to strengthen Congress at grassroots level
KISHTWAR: Senior Congress leader and former minister G. M. Saroori today conducted an extensive tour of Balgran, Nali, Patnazi, and Burdhar areas of District Kishtwar, where he met hundreds of residents, listened to their grievances, and took stock of developmental activities and infrastructural gaps in the region.
During his day-long tour, Saroori interacted with people from different walks of life who apprised him of pressing issues related to electricity supply, ration distribution, water scarcity, road connectivity, and shortage of teaching staff in schools. The locals informed him that the delay in ration delivery and the absence of adequate staff in educational institutions have been causing hardships to the general public.
Listening patiently to the peopleās concerns, Saroori assured them that all genuine grievances would be taken up with the concerned authorities for early redressal. He emphasized that the Congress Party has always stood for equitable development and inclusive growth, particularly focusing on far-flung, hilly, and neglected regions like these.
Expressing serious concern over the sluggish pace of certain developmental works, Saroori urged the district administration to expedite all pending projects under PMGSY (Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana), R&B (Roads and Buildings Department), and PDD (Power Development Department). He pointed out that the grid station project in the area has remained incomplete for over a decade, resulting in frequent power interruptions. He called upon the authorities to prioritize the completion of this vital infrastructure project to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply to the people.
The senior leader further observed that the government must ensure timely delivery of basic amenities like roads, water, healthcare, and education in rural and remote belts of the district. āDevelopment should not remain confined to files and announcements; it must be visible on the ground,ā Saroori remarked.
He also held a meeting with local Congress workers during the tour and reviewed the organizational situation at the grassroots level. Addressing the workers, he urged them to intensify their outreach among the people, remain connected with their day-to-day issues, and work with sincerity and dedication for their welfare.
āCongress has always believed in people-centric politics. We must continue to uphold this legacy by serving the public selflessly and strengthening the party at the grassroots level,ā he added.
Saroori assured the residents that he would continue to raise their issues with the concerned authorities and push for the speedy execution of all pending developmental works in the Kishtwar region.
