RAMBAN: The Cooperative Department, in collaboration with the District Administration Ramban, today organized a district-level “Sehkar Mela” as part of the 72nd All India Cooperative Week celebrations. The event, held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan, witnessed enthusiastic participation from cooperative societies, stakeholders and students.

 The “Sehkar Mela,” the first of its kind in Ramban, was inaugurated by District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson Dr. Shamshaad Shaan, in presence of MLA Ramban, Arjun Singh Raju and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan. The dignitaries inspected stalls set up by the cooperative societies and allied departments, showcasing their activities, products and achievements.

The cooperative societies from across the district exhibited local and organic products, including Kaskoot Walnuts, Mangit Rajmah, Akhtera Apple Chips, Organic Honey, Akhtera Amlook, along with stalls from the Handicrafts & Handloom Department, Area Marketing Office Ramban and other departments.

After the inspection, the Chief Guest felicitated members of pioneering cooperative societies for their outstanding contribution to strengthening the cooperative movement in the district. Registration certificates were also given away to newly registered cooperative societies.

Deputy Registrar Priyanka Sharma delivered an in-depth PowerPoint presentation highlighting the achievements, functioning and assets of cooperative societies in the district. She reiterated the crucial role cooperatives play in community empowerment, income generation and socio-economic upliftment.

Members from the cooperative societies, Primary Multi-Livelihood Cooperative Societies, teachers and students from the Shah-i-Asrar Cooperative Institute-Banihal, attended the event, underscoring the inclusive and community-driven nature of the cooperative movement in the District.
