BHADERWAH: The School of Management Studies, Bhaderwah Campus, University of Jammu, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), organized a one-day Boot Camp on Startup Idea Challenge – The Biggest Idea Challenge in J&K, aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurial spirit among students.
Prof. Rahul Gupta, Rector, Bhaderwah Campus, joined the event online and appreciated the efforts of the School of Management Studies for organizing such a meaningful and interactive initiative. He urged students to seize every opportunity to innovate, ideate, and engage in entrepreneurial pursuits.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Ms. Asma Jamil, Faculty, School of Management Studies, who also anchored the event with enthusiasm. The Boot Camp was organized and coordinated under the guidance of Dr. Umesh Choudhary, Incharge Head, School of Management Studies, Bhaderwah Campus.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Choudhary highlighted the significance of integrating management education with innovation and entrepreneurship. He emphasized that the Boot Camp served as a vibrant platform for MBA, BBA, and B.Com students to showcase their creative business ideas, adding that JKEDI’s mentorship and financial assistance can help young innovators transform their concepts into sustainable ventures, thereby contributing to Atmanirbhar Bharat through self-reliance and employment generation.
Mr. Shabir Majeed, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI, delivered an insightful session on the Role of Startups in Nurturing Entrepreneurial Talent. He explained the objectives, eligibility criteria, and operational guidelines of JKEDI’s Startup Policy, elaborating on various stages including idea validation, mentoring, financial assistance, and market linkage. Mr. Majeed also expressed willingness to formalize collaboration with Bhaderwah Campus through an MoU to strengthen startup culture among youth.
Vivek Sagar, ITI Superintendent, in his address, stressed the importance of developing a robust ecosystem to support startups in rural and semi-urban regions. During the Boot Camp, students from MBA, BBA, and B.Com streams presented a range of innovative business ideas before an expert panel from JKEDI. Some of the notable ideas included Bhaderwahi Heritage, Pahadi Pure Bhaderwahi Ghee, Eco Reborn – Bag Products from Waste, HoneyFit, Walnut Butter, and Vegan Leather. The panel praised the participants for their creativity, innovation, and potential for incubation and funding under the Startup Policy.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Alyas, Faculty Member, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Rector, JKEDI delegates, participating faculty, and students for making the event a grand success.
The Boot Camp witnessed active support and participation from faculty members including Dr. Rohit Bhagat, Mohammed Avais, Dr. Subash Chander, Mujeeb Sheikh (Assistant Registrar), Dr. Umar Sadeeq, Dr. Alyas, Shabir Hussain, Mehmood Ahmad Khanday, Surbi Langeh, Asma Jamil, Rajinder Kumar, Amit Kumar and Bhumeeka.
