University of Jammu shines: Over 150 students secure global placements with Century Bank Brokers, Dubai

JAMMU: Placement Cell, University of Jammu in collaboration with Century Bank Brokers (CBB), Dubai, organised ‘Two Days Placement Drive’ for the students on November 1st and 2nd, 2025 at University of Jammu. The drive was successfully conducted under the transformational leadership of Prof. Umesh Rai, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu. Candidates across different departments/directorates/centres/offsite campuses and other affiliated institutions participated in the said drive. The drive was conducted from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on both days in the Department of EVS and Remote Sensing, JU.

Century Bank Brokers is a reputed Dubai-based financial services firm and is renowned for its expertise in acquiring asset and liability products for banks including Credit Cards, Personal Loans, Mortgages, Retail and SME Accounts for CASA and FD and commercial lending products. The said drive offered lucrative career opportunities, providing candidates a choice to pursue their professional career in an attractive global work environment in Dubai.

The event witnessed an overwhelming response with more than 500 students participated in the event out of which appx. 400 students were shortlisted for the final round. It is a matter of immense pleasure that appx. 150 students stand selected in the said drive. Interviews were conducted in different phases by a team of more than 10 experts from Century Bank Brokers, Dubai. Faculty representatives from different departments, off-site campuses and other affiliated institutions also participated in the drive extending mentorship and guidance to students throughout the process.

Earlier, Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Registrar & Dean Students Placement, University of Jammu welcomed the participants and introduced the objective of conducting such events at University of Jammu. He emphasized the essence of student placements and role of Placement Cell, JU in facilitating placement opportunities for the students and contribute to the society at large.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chamak Banerjee, Managing Director, Century Bank Brokers Dubai, extended heartfelt thanks to the University of Jammu for organizing such a wonderful International Placement Drive. In his address, he highlighted that the Chairman of Century Bank Brokers Dubai, Mr. Bal Krishen Rathore hails from District Doda and envisions creating employment opportunities for the youth of Jammu & Kashmir. He added that such drives open doors for young professionals to develop international job perspectives early in their careers.

Prof. J P Singh Joorel, Dean Academic Affairs, JU and Guest of Honour in the event highlighted the importance of student placements and mentioned that students of the University of Jammu have the potential, talent and dedication to get job placements and pursue their professional career. He further mentioned that students need proper mentorship and guidance to shape their future paths and the said drive marks an important initiative by the Placement Cell, JU by providing its students access to international career opportunities and fostering collaboration between industry and academia.

Prof. Neelu Rohmetra, Dean Research Studies, JU and Chief Guest on the occasion emphasised that the youth of J&K possess the mindset to dream big, yet require proper direction to channel their potential. She urged the students to venture beyond the state, face challenges with courage, achieve success and return to serve the motherland. She highlighted that success comes to those who remain positive, open to learn and hopeful. She motivated the students to take a leap towards global careers, stating that the private sector encourages personal and professional development while the government sector often leads to stagnation. She mentioned that the true success requires overcoming from the fear of uncertainty and being exposed.

The Placement Cell, University of Jammu remains committed to organize more drives in future and create a robust interface between industry and academia, providing a common platform for recruiters to identify desired skill sets and create multiple opportunities for students to embark on successful career paths.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Aubid Hussain Parrey, Coordinator Placement Cell, JU who also delivered the formal vote of thanks. He expressed gratitude to all who directly or indirectly facilitated the successful conduct of the event, especially dignitaries from the University of Jammu and Century Bank Brokers, Dubai and hoped for more such collaborations in the future.
