SRINAGAR: The two-day International Conference on "Contemporary Trends in Social Sciences and Management" kicked off on Wednesday at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.
The event, organized by the Department of Humanities, Social Sciences & Management (HSS&M), was inaugurated by its Head, Dr. Jaya Shrivastava. The conference aims to bring together scholars and professionals to discuss advancements and challenges in social sciences and management.
Incharge Director of NIT Srinagar, Prof. Roohie Naaz, Registrar Atikur Rehman, and Dean Academic Affairs Dr. Mohammad Shafi Mir extended their best wishes to the organizing committee and participants.
Dr. Falaq Mubashir hosted the inaugural session, warmly welcoming participants and outlining the objectives and significance of the conference. Organizing Secretary Dr. Mohammad Rafiq Teli provided an overview of the conference themes, stressing the importance of interdisciplinary research in addressing modern challenges.
A special address was delivered by Dr. Tahir Ahmad Wani, who emphasized the critical role of contemporary research in driving innovation. In her welcome address, Dr. Jaya Shrivastava highlighted the need for stronger connections between researchers and policymakers, stressing the impact of such collaborations in fields like public health, urban development, and education.
The technical sessions were chaired by notable experts, including Dr. Mohsina Irshad, Assistant Director of the Department of Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir; Dr. Javed Ahmed Dar, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Public Administration at the University of Kashmir; and Dr. Asma Nabi, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Kashmir. Their expertise enriched the discussions, fostering insightful exchanges among participants.
The conference will continue on Thursday with further presentations and discussions, aiming to promote knowledge-sharing and explore innovative solutions to contemporary issues in social sciences and management.
