JAMMU: The Centre for Comparative Religion and Civilizations under the patronage of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Central University of Jammu organized Alumni Meet 2024. More than 30 alumni members of CCRC took part in the meeting. These members are working in different sectors of government and non-government organizations. Some of them hold high ranks in government organizations and multinational companies and some of them are NRIs. The meeting started with the lighting of a lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana.
Prof. Niranjna Bhandari, Centre Director gave a presidential address. Dean of Social Sciences CUJ Prof. A. K. Nanda gave his blessings to the members. The former director of the Centre Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh gave a brief introduction to the Centre from its inception to the present day. He said that the Centre was started with a single regular faculty member and now there are six permanent faculty members with one professor, one associate professor and four assistant professors. He said that the Centre is fulfilling the religious and spiritual needs of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The centre has best tried to protect the deep-rooted religious, cultural and philosophical identity of Jammu and Kashmir. Faculty member Dr. G.V. Snigdha Raj has nicely convened the meeting. Each alumni member was felicitated by the Centre with a memory sign memento and a certificate of appreciation. All alumni members shared their sweet memories of those days spent in the centre.
Sharing his views senior alumni Bal Krishan Kandhari said that we are forgetting our deep-rooted traditions of religion, culture and philosophy of Jammu and Kashmir. The centre has given us the light to recognize our rich past, live in the present and shape a better future. He shared how the centre has given us rich ideas about forgotten Kashmir Shaivism. All alumni members- Seema Zalpoori, Ravi Raaz, Bal Zee Naru, Akriti Singh, Megha Devi, Praveen Kumar, Neha Sharma, Aditya Negi, Mukesh Manhas, Ajay Koul, Dr Neena Gupta Vij were present and shared their views.
A cultural programme was also organized with prominent roles of MA students- Aditi Sharma, Anchal Sharma and Aman Kumar Chaudhary. Research scholars- Sohail, Narottam, Rohit, Naresh, Salma, Manish, Arpit and many more had played a very positive and decorative role in organizing the meet. Other faculty members Dr Arvind Rituraj, Dr Ashwani Kumar, and Dr Amita Gupta were also present at the meeting. Effortless bits of help from our staff- Neetakshi and Kewal Singh were highly appreciated.
