JAMMU: Union Home and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah addressed public gatherings in Pddar-Nagseni, Kishtwar, and Ramban in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. During his address, Shri Shah criticized the Congress and National Conference for their anti-development and pro-terrorist politics, while highlighting the achievements of the Modi government. Shri Shah emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party will not allow anyone to take away the reservations and rights granted to the people.
The event was attended by Union Minister Shri Jitendra Singh, former MP Shri Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Shri Janki Nath Manhas, Shri Pradeep Parihar and BJP’s candidate for the Paddar Nagseini Assembly constituency, Shri Sunil Sharma, among other BJP candidates for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
Shri Shah stated that the sacred land of Paddar-Nagseni has displayed immense courage and sacrifice in uniting and strengthening India for years. It is because of the ancestors of this land that the Indian flag proudly flies here today. The days of partition and the terrorism of the 90s have been witnessed. Whether it was Chandrakant Sharma or Parihar Bandhu, they all made sacrifices. The BJP promises to eliminate terrorism in such a way that it will never emerge again. There are attempts being made, similar to the 90s, to strengthen terrorism in the region.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah highlighted that Kishtwar is a land of martyrs. During the partition of India, the wrong policies of Congress and Nehru made it difficult to decide the future of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. In times of crisis, the people of Kishtwar have always been ready to make sacrifices. During the terrorism of the 1990s, every citizen here stood by the security forces and played a crucial role in ending terrorism. The NC and Congress have even promised that if their government comes to power, these terrorists will be released. But, this is the Modi government, and no one can dare to allow terrorism to occur on Indian soil. The Village Defence Guards (VDG) and Special Police Officers (SPO) have been strengthened by replacing outdated 303 rifles with Self-Loading Rifles (SLR). Additionally, a security grid is being developed to effectively counter terrorism in the mountainous regions. There will be no dialogue with Pakistan until terrorism is eradicated from Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, Congress and the National Conference are pushing to restart the LoC trade.
Shri Shah remarked that this election is a battle between two forces. On one side, the NC-Congress alliance, and on the other, the BJP. The NC and Congress are claiming that if they come to power, they will bring back Article 370. If Article 370 is reinstated, it will revoke the reservations granted to Gujjars and Paharis. But, there is no cause for concern as it is clear that neither Farooq Abdullah nor Rahul Gandhi's government will be formed. Farooq Abdullah used to claim that even if Shri Narendra Modi became Prime Minister 10 times, Article 370 could never be removed. Mehbooba Mufti warned that if Article 370 were removed, rivers of blood would flow. However, Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji removed Article 370 and established one flag, one head of the state and one constitution for the country.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah stated that the beneficiaries of Article 370 were not the people of Jammu and Kashmir, but only three families: the Abdullah family, the Gandhi family, and the Mufti family. Article 370, which was removed by Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji, is now a part of history. There is no place for Article 370 in the Constitution of India anymore. Jammu and Kashmir can never have two constitutions, two heads of the state, and two flags. The only flag will be our beloved tricolor. The BJP upholds the ideals of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra and Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee. It is clear that Jammu and Kashmir was, is and always will be an integral part of India. When we opposed the idea of ‘two constitutions, two heads of the state and two flags’ for Bharat, the Congress Party, under Nehru’s leadership, opposed the campaign. While the opposition wants to turn Jammu and Kashmir into a terror-stricken state, Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji aims to make it a developed region.
Shri Shah stated that the Congress-NC alliance of nurturing terrorism, pointing out that whenever Congress and NC formed the government in the valley, they fueled terrorism. In the 1990s, when Farooq Abdullah was the Chief Minister, after forming an alliance with Rajiv Gandhi, Kashmir was engulfed in terrorism, but Farooq Abdullah left for a summer vacation in London.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah urged the public to support BJP, promising that if given their mandate, BJP will strengthen the VDCs and SPOs, working to eradicate terrorism from its roots. Furthermore, with public support, the long-closed sapphire mines, which remained shut due to corruption, will be reopened, filling the state’s treasury and providing jobs for the youth of Paddar. Those who intend to spread terror here, there is still time to back out. Otherwise, be aware that the Indian Army and security forces are deployed. You will face severe consequences right here.
Shri Shah stated that the Congress and National Conference claims they will restore Article 370, but with a BJP government in Delhi, Farooq Abdullah has no means to bring it back. NC-Congress alliance leaders are claiming that if their government comes to power, they will reconsider reservations. The people of Jammu and Kashmir should not be deceived by this, as such a government would end the reservations. When it came to providing reservations to Paharis, efforts were made to provoke the Gujjar community by suggesting that their share of reservations would be reduced. However, BJP assured the Gujjars that while reservations would be given to the Paharis, their own reservations would remain unchanged. The central government under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has ensured that Gujjar reservations are preserved while also providing reservations to the Paharis. Previously, children of parents living in remote hill areas were deprived of education, but those days are over, by the tribal reservations, these children will have opportunities to become Collectors, SP, DSPs and senior officers, serving in various parts of the country.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah stated that on one hand, the opposition seeks to strip women of the rights they gained after the removal of Article 370, but BJP believes in not only securing the rights of women but also providing reservation rights to the Gujjars, Paharis, Dalits and OBC communities. Three types of reservations have been provided within the paramilitary forces—for SC, ST, and the Paharis. Additionally, those from border and hill regions, including Gujjars and Paharis, will receive a greater share in the reservation and BJP will focus on recruiting hill community members into the paramilitary forces.
Shri Shah stated that the Congress and National Conference has demonstrated their ability to run a government for their own families, while Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji has ended the tradition of governance by three families and established Panchayati Raj. Elections were held at the block, gram panchayat and district levels, leading to the rise of young leaders from local youth. These leaders will soon represent the region in the Vidhan Sabha and Lok Sabha.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah stated that no effort was ever made to develop tourism in the Pir Panjal and Jammu regions. He urged the public to support BJP and elect Shri Sunil Sharma, promising that they will transform Poonch and Rajouri into tourist destinations even better than Pahalgam. A riverfront will be developed along the Tawi River and numerous projects will be undertaken to boost tourism. The Kardhai hydro project will also be launched, with work starting within three months of Shri Sunil Sharma's victory.
Shri Shah stated that Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji has strengthened democracy in Jammu and Kashmir. Farooq Abdullah's family was in power for three generations, the people of Jammu and Kashmir never received free treatment up to ₹5 lakh. Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji has provided free treatment up to ₹5 lakh to everyone including elderly people. Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji has provided 5 kg rice free of cost to every household in our Jammu Kashmir and has provided tap water to every household. A senior Congress leader and former Home Minister once admitted that, during his tenure, he was afraid to visit Kashmir's Lal Chowk. However, under the BJP government's rule, anyone can freely walk through Kashmir and Lal Chowk. Today, Rahul Gandhi leads ‘Padyatra’, Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi play in the snow, Rahul rides a bike, eats ice cream, and while witnessing the Tricolor fly at Lal Chowk, they hurl insults at Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah further added that the same alliance, Nehru family, Gandhi family and Abdullah family, which spread terrorism, is now seeking the people's blessings again. The opposition not only insulted the Maharaja of Jammu and Kashmir but also did not allow his body to return after his death. Maharaja Karan Singh himself stated that his father's body was not allowed to return to Jammu and Kashmir, only his ashes made it back. Accusing the opposition of displacing Kashmiri Pandits, spreading terrorism and blocking reservations, particularly for women. Congress and NC should not be allowed to return to power and the people must ensure BJP’s victory.
Shri Shah stated that Sometimes Omar Abdullah says he won’t contest elections because he fears losing. Sometimes he talks about contesting from Ganderbal, but when a young leader stands up, he clarifies he’ll only contest from two seats. Regardless of where he chooses to contest, Farooq Abdullah’s defeat is certain.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah pointed out that the relationship between Abdullah and the Congress party spans three generations. Sometimes Indira Gandhi would imprison Sheikh Abdullah and at other times release him. Rajiv Gandhi later compromised with Abdullah, and now Rahul Gandhi is making compromises with Omar Abdullah. The Congress government had once jailed Sheikh Abdullah on charges of treason and even brought a white paper against him and his family in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly. If Rahul Gandhi has the courage, he should address that white paper.
Shri Shah conveyed that it is surprising what the lure of power can do! The Congress party, which once labeled the Abdullah family as traitors and held them responsible for terrorism, jailing Omar Abdullah's grandfather for years, is now showering them with affection just to try and win against Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji. The Congress and National Conference plunged Jammu and Kashmir into the terrorism for 35 years, resulting in over 40,000 people being martyred. Will Rahul Gandhi and Farooq Abdullah take responsibility for these deaths? After the formation of a BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir, a white paper will be brought to hold these leaders accountable for the deaths of these 40,000 people.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah stated that in order to win the election, Farooq Abdullah has stooped to such an extent that he is insulting the Indian Army, which has taken bullets on its chest in three wars and serves as a security shield for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Those who are meant to protect India are accusing the Indian Army of being in cahoots with terrorists. Omar Abdullah stated that Afzal Guru should not have been hanged. It raises serious concerns about what could happen if Rahul Gandhi and Omar Abdullah form the government. We could see bullets being fired again, stone-pelting resuming, terrorist funeral processions returning, Tazia processions being halted, cinema halls closing, attacks on the Amarnath Yatra, and the investment in Jammu and Kashmir being replaced by rising unemployment. The National Conference has sabotaged the development of Jammu and Kashmir, jeopardized the future of its youth and undermined the rights of Gujjars, Bakarwals, Paharis, and women in the state.
Shri Shah stated that a candidate from the National Conference has stated that they would ‘settle scores’ after the 4th. Shri Shah responded that he will be present to hold them accountable. The days are gone when the opposition could intimidate and threaten the Paharis or accuse Gujjars of being bribed. Now, no one can scare or insult them and there will be no room left for vengeance speeches. Shri Shah criticized Congress and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of wanting to push Jammu and Kashmir back into terrorism. Meanwhile, BJP, without making lofty promises, has delivered significant development.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah expressed that the Bharatiya Janata Party has taken the initiative to build a government degree college, an ITI in Paddar, established three higher secondary education institutions, built a district hospital in Paddar, and decided to construct a road connecting Paddar to Zanskar in Ladakh. After the formation of a BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir, the Machail Mata Yatra site will be developed extensively by the state government. The focus will be on boosting tourism in India. Hydropower projects will be developed and the first engineering colleges will be established in Paddar and Kishtwar. Additionally, 130 new towers will be set up to ensure connectivity between security forces and locals. Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji has proposed that regions with populations of 100 or fewer will be connected by roads, which will significantly benefit the Kishtwar region. Plans are also in place to give a GI tag to pear and river rafting and adventure tourism training schools will be established.
Shri Shah highlighted that BJP has promised in its manifesto to provide ₹18,000 per year to the eldest woman in every household through the 'Maa Samman Yojana.' Two free Ujjwala gas connections will be provided, one during Diwali and the other on Rakshabandhan. Even small farmers will receive ₹10,000 annually under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi The manifesto also promises a 50% reduction in electricity bills and the introduction of metro services in Jammu and Kashmir. Plans include restoring 100 ruined temples, establishing the Tawi Riverfront in Jammu and establishing a Water Sports Centre at the Ranjit Sagar Reservoir. Rehabilitation work will be undertaken for those who have suffered losses. Furthermore, Ayush herbal parks will be set up in Kishtwar and Doda, an IT hub will be established in Jammu, a pharmaceutical hub in Udhampur, and Regional Development Boards for Jammu Division will be created.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah mentioned that through the Atal Awas Yojana, five marla plots of land will be provided for PM Awas. Additionally, SC and ST Pahari and Gujjar communities will receive reservation in job promotions. The Modi government's top priority is to resolve all issues related to the safety and security of the state and will address these promptly. Additionally, Kishtwar has immense potential for adventure tourism. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has brought the first degree college to Paddar, similarly he will also bring the first airport to Kishtwar, the work of connecting every village by road has been done by the BJP.
Shri Shah highlighted that the BJP government has established 2 AIIMS, 2 IIMs, a School of Fashion Design and 9 medical colleges in Jammu and Kashmir. Along with industrial development efforts, the government has also worked to provide 24-hour electricity to the people of the region. In the past 10 years, the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel and Banihal-Qazigund Tunnel have been constructed, connecting Ramban to the four-lane national highway. A railway station has been initiated in Sangaldan and the first electric train has been launched. A new bus stand and three higher secondary schools have been built in Ramban, Sulai honey has received a GI tag and the Sawalkot Hydroelectric Project is underway, which will supply 1850 MW of electricity.
Union Home Minister Shri Shah stated that Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji has guided the entire nation on a path of development. In contrast, the NC and Congress have subjected the beautiful mountains and regions to terrorism. BJP promises once again that no one will dare to promote terrorism in this region and is committed to fully eradicating terrorism. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has created job opportunities for those who carry laptops and the national flag in their hands, while ensuring that jail cells are ready for those who choose to carry guns. Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is moving forward with the principle of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’. Shri Shah emphasized that voting is crucial for the elections and despite the difficult situations in this region, everyone must cast their votes and encourage their relatives to vote for the ‘Lotus’ symbol.
