JAMMU: On the occasion of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas, an essay writing competition was organized by Creative Writing Club under the patronage of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and under the guidance of Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean, Students Welfare.
Janjatiya Gaurav Divas is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of India's tribal hero and great freedom fighter Birsa Munda. Birsa Munda, in his short but inspiring life, sacrificed himself for the rights of tribal society against colonial rule. This day is a day to honour the unique contribution of the tribal society and remember their glorious tradition. As many as 40 students enthusiastically participated in the competition and presented their views on various topics related to tribal pride.
Dr. Shashikant Mishra, Associate Professor, Department of Hindi and Other Indian Languages, and Dr. Raj Thakur, Assistant Professor, Department of English, were the judges of the essay competition.
The program was co-ordinated by Dr Ratnesh Kumar Yadav, Convenor and Dr Vishal Co-Convenor, Creative Writing Club. The objective of the competition was to raise awareness among the students about ethnic history and their cultural heritage. Through this event, the students highlighted the contributions of the ethnic communities and highlighted their importance in society.
Janjatiya Gaurav Divas is not only an opportunity to know the rich side of our history, but it also reminds us of our responsibilities towards the tribal society. This day inspires every citizen of India to unite with the tribal society and work towards their empowerment. Prof. Ritu Bakshi, Dean Students Welfare, thanked the organizing team for the successful competition and praised the students' creativity.
