JAMMU: The Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, in collaboration with Vidya Bharati Uchcha Shiksha Sansthan (VBUSS) and Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti under the Ministry of Education, Government of India organized a two-day workshop on “Integrating Indian Philosophy, Indian Languages, and Educational Technology for Developing Model Curriculum in Education”. This initiative is part of a broader effort to align India’s educational system with the National Education Policy 2020 and to promote a more holistic, inclusive, and multidisciplinary approach to education.

Earlier Prof. Kailash Chandra Sharma, National President of VBUSS , Chief Guest of the event emphasized the importance of inclusive educational practices and the role of student bodies in shaping academic policies. He appreciated such initiatives taken by VBUSS along with different Universities in organizing informative workshops. Additionally, he stressed upon the importance of “Bharatiya Gyan and Bhartiya Bhasha” along with open mindedness in the field of Teacher Education. He also congratulated the core team of organizers Prof. J.N. Baliya,Prof. Madhusudan J.V.and  Prof. Surender Kumar Sharma for taking up the initiatives in this direction. The inaugural session of the workshop aimed at fostering dialogue on Educational Advancement, Innovation, and Leadership, was successfully conducted on the first day. This highly anticipated event featured esteemed resource persons who brought a wealth of knowledge and experience from diverse fields.

An insightful discourse by Sh. K.N. Raghunandan, Organising Secretary VBUSS where he highlighted the need of dedicated and committed involvement of youth in the educational journey for providing quality education. He called upon the educationists to come forward cohesively to build up the right path of NEP 2020 implementation

Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu (CUJ) highlighted the advancements in educational technologies and their potential for transforming traditional learning environments. He cited examples from the ancient Indian philosophies that need to be incorporated with the modern technologies considering its impact on the younger generation. He appreciated the efforts of VBUSS Unit of J&K Laddakh Prant and the core team.

Sh. Prafull Ketkar, Editor, Organiser spoke on “De-colonization of Education: Actions Ahead” as the keynote speaker. He explored the need to remove colonial legacies from India’s educational system and replace them with indigenous knowledge systems that are deeply rooted in Indian philosophy and cultural practices. This session was particularly significant in light of NEP-2020’s focus on reclaiming and promoting Bharatiya Gyan Parampara (Indian Knowledge Systems).

Prof. Yashwant Singh, Registrar CUJ, also addressed the participants.  The session reiterated the importance of aligning education with Indian traditions and values, while simultaneously embracing technological advancements to meet the needs of the 21st-century learner. Prof. Asit K. Mantry, Head of the Department of Educational Studies at CUJ offered a perspective on ethical education and its integral role in fostering responsible citizenship among students.

A special Vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. J.N. Baliya to conclude the enlightening workshop. Prof. Baliya first and foremost thanked Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain for his commitment to fostering growth and development in creating a tangible change in the life course of young generations. He also appreciated all the distinguished faculties and dignitaries for their active participation. The workshop ended on a significant note that marked the power of collaboration and shared learning in the field of academia.
