JAMMU: The Department of Zoology organized its first alumni meet today, in the Satish Dhawan Centre at Central University of Jammu. Under the patronage of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain, the alumni meet was a very successful event with wide participation of the former students of the department. Around 50 students registered for the meet and attended it with great enthusiasm.
The alumni meet began with lamp lighting and welcome address by the Head of the Department, Dr. Ashok Kumar Yadav. The Head placed on record that without the encouragement and vision of the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain the alumni meet would not have been possible.
Dean, School of Life Sciences, Prof. Sunil Dhar was also present on the occasion and enlightened the students with his words of wisdom. The event was coordinated by Dr. Anjali Dhar. Other faculty members of the department, Dr. Shvetambri Jasrotia, Dr. Vinita Sharma and Dr. Praveen Kumar Mehta were also present.
The alumni shared their experiences about life after leaving Central University of Jammu. Many of them have been placed in prestigious institutes of the country such as IIT, IIIM, ICMR and Indian Army. Some of them are serving in other government offices and private enterprises as well. Nostalgic visit to the alma mater followed by a memorable cake cutting ceremony and lunch added to the warmth and nostalgia. The meeting reinforced the University’s strong bond with its alumni inspiring them to reunite again.
