JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today chaired a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and heads of the departments to review the winter preparedness in the division. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Districts that receive heavy snow & experience harsh winters, CCF Jammu, Director FCS & CA, Director ULB, Director Health Services Jammu, Chief Engineers PWD (R&D) Jammu, Chenab, Pir Panjal, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti and other concerned HoDs.
During the meeting, the Div Com reviewed the district wise arrangements and preparations made for ensuring the supply of essential items, machinery for snow clearance on roads, power, water supply and other arrangements in areas which face harsh winters. The Deputy Commissioners apprised the Divisional Commissioner about the availability of ration, fuel, LPG and other essentials in their respective districts.
The Div Com directed for stocking the ration and essential items like LPG, well in advance in snow bound, far flung and remote areas. Reviewing the preparations of PWD, NHAI, BRO, MED for keeping the roads through during heavy snowfall, the Div Com asked the concerned Chief Engineers to keep their men and machinery ready at logistical places.
The Div Com also took stock of the district wise plan for uninterrupted power and water supply and meeting the exigencies during heavy snow. He asked for maintaining the buffer stock of transformers. It was informed that 24 X 7 District wise control rooms shall be set up for receiving the public complains and restoring the essential services by the concerned departments.
The Div Com directed the Deputy Commissioners and concerned department for wide circulation and publicity of the numbers of the control room. The Div Com asked the Director Health to ensure availability of Doctors, paramedic staff and sufficient stock of medicines in all snow bound districts. Directions were also issued for public awareness on preventing the fire incidents in areas having house made of wood. The Div Com also directed for adequate availability of fire wood and petroleum in all districts.
