• Listens to public demands, inspects various schemes

BANDIPORA: As part of Weekly Block Diwas initiative of the Government, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Shakeel-ul Rehman today presided over a Mega Public Outreach Program organized by the District Administration at Charwan Gujjarpati of Ajas Bandipora, to actively engage with the community, address their grievances, and listen to their demands/grievances firsthand.

DDC member Hajin-B Ghulam Mustafa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Umar Shafi Pandith, ACR  Shabir Ahmad Wani, Ex. Engineer PHE, Ex. Engineer PDD, BDO Hajin, Tehsildar Ajas and officers from the concerned departments, public representatives and a large number of locals from villages of Charwan and Ajas areas participated in the Diwas.

Throughout the program, community members and their representatives voiced their grievances and demands concerning development and administrative matters, emphasizing the need for immediate attention from the Deputy Commissioner and district administration for speedy resolution of their concerns.

The public demands mainly included macadamization of inner links, main road to Gujjar Basti, road for PHC Ajas, posting of staff at Tehsil office Ajas, upgradation of electricity lines, installation of additional transformers in overloaded habitations and supply of drinking water for the Gujjar Basti from the existing filtration plant.

Shakeel-ul Rehman, while addressing the gathering, said that the visit to this far-flung place is to take stock of essential amenities, progress of developmental works and the issues faced by the general public of Ajas area. He directed concerned officers present at the block diwas to resolve all the genuine issues and demands in a time-bound manner on a priority basis.

Block Diwas is aimed to ensure good governance at the door steps and to address public issues on the spot within the public, he added. He asked officers of Jal Shakti department to explore the water resources in consultation with the locals at the far-flung and hilly areas for the proper storage and harvesting of water resources as a long term solution to the anticipated drinking water crises in future.

He directed Ex. Engineer R&B Bandipora to take into consideration the macadamization of the inner links of Charwan and Ajas. He also directed Ex. Engineer PHE to ensure the supply of drinking water to the inhabitants of Gojjar Basti at Charwan.

Later, the DC inspected the filtration plant at Charwan and Power Grid Station at Ajas. He took detailed feedback about the working and the catering capabilities of these stations.
