- Urge recovered patients to lead community outreach and inspire others to overcome addiction
KULGAM: On Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today visited the District Drug De-addiction Centre (DDAC), where he along with SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary inaugurated a fitness room and library at the District Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam. During the visit, the DC also interacted with recovered patients and assessed the available treatment and rehabilitation facilities at the centre.
He commended the patients for their courage, determination commitment to overcoming addiction. The DC lauded their decision to seek timely medical intervention and emphasized that âdrug addiction is a treatable medical condition, and successful recovery is possible when patients and families remain motivated and approach de-addiction centres without hesitation.
He held detailed interactions with the recovered individuals to understand the underlying causes of addiction and discussed strategies to further strengthen anti-addiction initiatives across the district. The DC also sought comprehensive feedback to enhance treatment efficacy and improve the infrastructure and support systems at the centre.
Patients expressed their gratitude for the collaborative efforts of the District Administration, Social Welfare Department, and Health Department in combating substance abuse and fostering recovery. The DC encouraged the recovered individuals to play a proactive role in community outreach, motivating others struggling with addiction to seek help through the District Drug De-addiction Centre Kulgam and the Addiction Treatment Facility (ATF) at District Hospital Kulgam. Present on the occasion were ADC Kulgam, Tehsildar Kulgam, Executive Engineer R&B, DSWO, and other officers.
