SAMBA: Deputy Commissioner Samba Ayushi Sudan today chaired a meeting in the DC Office Complex to review the preparations for the Armed Forces Flag Day. The arrangements are being coordinated by the Zila Sainik Welfare Office and activities related to Flag Day will commence from 7th December onwards.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the preparedness of various departments and noted that the Flag Day Fund is utilised to provide financial assistance to ex-servicemen, their widows and to support institutions dedicated to their welfare.
Ms. Ayushi Sudan highlighted that Samba is among the districts with the highest ex-servicemen population, with more than 43,000 ex-servicemen and their dependents residing in the district. She stressed the importance of strengthening outreach initiatives to ensure maximum public awareness regarding the significance of Flag Day.
She directed all departments to ensure that donation boxes for voluntary contributions are placed at prominent public locations. The Deputy Commissioner also instructed officers to intensify publicity drives to encourage wider public participation.
Emphasising the need for inclusivity, she reiterated that ex-servicemen and their families must receive timely benefits under various social welfare and progressive government schemes. The meeting was attended by ADC Samba Jagdish Singh, ACR Ajay Bharti and other senior officers.
