UDHAMPUR: To commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, marking the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the District Administration Udhampur today organized a Run for Unity rally at the District Headquarters. Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai in the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police, Amod Ashok Nagpure, flagged off the rally from the Mini Stadium, Udhampur.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh, Additional SP Sandeep Bhat, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, senior officers from various line departments, prominent citizens, members of civil society and students and staff from various educational institutions.

While speaking on the occasion, the DC emphasized the importance of national unity and integrity and urged the participants to emulate the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. She exhorted everyone to promote peace, harmony and a spirit of togetherness in society. The DC highlighted that the main objective of organizing such events is to strengthen communal harmony, social integration and a sense of belongingness among all sections of the community. She also sensitized the participants about the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week and its significance in building a transparent and accountable administration.

The rally, comprising officers and officials, civil society members and students, carried banners and placards conveying messages of unity, integrity and national security. The rally passed through Matador Stand, MH Chowk, Devika and Dak Bungalow and culminated at Government Boys’ Degree College, Udhampur. Earlier, a pledge ceremony was held, wherein all officers and officials pledged to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and to strive earnestly to spread this noble message among their fellow citizens.
