BARAMULLA: The District Rent Assessment Committee (DRAC) meeting was today convened under the chairmanship of  District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa in his office chambers to review and decide rent assessment cases of various departments operating from rented accommodations across the district.

The meeting was attended by the Senior Superintendent of Police Baramulla, Superintending Engineer R&B Circle Baramulla, District Programme Officer Poshan (ICDS), District Social Welfare Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Executive Engineer R&B Baramulla/Pattan, Assistant Director FCS&CA, Assistant District Handicrafts Officer, Assistant Director Handlooms, District Programme Manager JKRLM, and Labour Procurement Officer Tangmarg.

During the meeting, 29 cases of various departments were taken up for discussion, out of which 27 cases were approved after detailed deliberations. Two cases pertaining to the Health Department were kept pending for reassessment of rent.

Speaking on the occasion,  Minga Sherpa emphasized the importance of ensuring fair, transparent, and need-based rent assessments, avoiding litigation, and verifying that all government offices function from premises meeting operational and administrative requirements. He further directed the concerned officers to rationalize rental expenditures and expedite disposal of pending cases strictly in accordance with government norms.
