RAMBAN: In compliance with directives from the Labour Commissioner Jammu and Kashmir, the Assistant Labour Commissioner Ramban, led a team of Labour Department officials to conduct inspections of the private building projects under the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Cess Act.
The team inspected several building construction sites and on-the-spot cess notices were issued to the building owners, directing them to deposit cess at the rate of 1% of the total estimated construction cost. The owners were apprised about the provisions of the Act and the importance of cess collection for the welfare of construction workers employed on their projects.
The building owners were instructed to deposit the cess amount within 10 days. The initiative aims to ensure compliance with the Act and secure funds for the welfare of labourers engaged in the construction sector. The Labour Department Ramban remains committed to enforcing labour laws and protecting the rights of workers in the region.
