SHOPIAN: The Department of Education, Government Degree College Shopian, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Shopian, under the aegis of IQAC, celebrated National Education Day to commemorate the birth anniversary and enduring legacy of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, India’s first Minister of Education and a pioneer of modern learning. On the occasion, In-charge Principal, GDC Shopian, Dr. Nazir Ahmad Bhat, paid rich tributes to Maulana Azad’s unparalleled contributions to the field of education.

Dr. Nazir underscored the significance of the occasion as an opportunity to revisit and reaffirm the ideals of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, describing him as a true champion of knowledge, unity, and educational empowerment. He highlighted the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in Education, emphasizing the need to balance technological advancement with human values, integrity, inclusivity, and innovation in learning environments.

Principal District and Sessions Judge Shopian (Chairman DLSA Shopian), Mehmood Ahmad Chowdhary who attended the event as chief guest, in his address, shared profound insights on the power of education in revolutionizing societies and institutions. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty, acknowledging their efforts in making the event a grand success.

Sub-Judge/Secretary DLSA Shopian, Mudasir Farooq, in his remarks, elaborated on the role of education in fostering national integration and unity, emphasizing that true integration is achieved when people rise above divisions and work collectively for peace, progress, and social harmony. Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Advocate Rafi Ahmad Ganie, highlighted the importance of fundamental rights as the cornerstone of Indian democracy, underlining their role in safeguarding justice, liberty, and equality for all citizens.
