SOPORE: In its sustained efforts to strengthen security and curb the misuse of SIM cards for unlawful and anti-social activities, Police in Sopore conducted inspections of various SIM card vendors across the Police District.

The drive focused on verifying customer documentation, KYC compliance, and adherence to Department of Telecommunications (DoT) guidelines, ensuring that no SIM cards are issued without proper verification. The initiative aims to prevent the use of SIM cards in cybercrime, impersonation, online fraud, and misinformation campaigns, safeguarding public communication systems from exploitation by criminal or anti-national elements.

Police reiterated that telecom retailers share equal responsibility in maintaining the integrity of communication networks and must exercise utmost care while issuing SIM cards. J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to upholding public safety, preventing cyber-enabled crimes, and ensuring lawful and transparent use of communication services across the district.
