KULGAM: Police in Kulgam have solved a theft case in Kulgam by arresting an accused person involved in the commission of crime. On 22/08/2025, Police Station Kulgam received a complaint from Abdul Hameed Sheikh son of Mohd Ramzan Sheikh resident of Rangrezpora Kulgam stating there in that an incident of ATM card exchange and fraudulent cash withdrawal took place with him at J&K Bank, Main Branch Kulgam.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 90/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam, and investigation was taken up. During the investigation, CCTV footage and other digital evidences were collected.
The suspect was seen with his face masked and wearing a cap, due to which his identity could not be immediately established but he had left some digital footprints which were analysed thoroughly and suspects were shortlisted. By using all available means and with strenuous efforts by the investigation team, a suspect namely Haroon Salam son of Abdul Salam Nanda resident of Gasran, Kulgam was zeroed in and brought to Police Station Kulgam for questioning.
During sustained questioning, the suspect admitted that on 22/08/2025, he had exchanged the ATM card of the victim at J&K Bank Main Branch Kulgam and later withdrew an amount of ₹1,30,200/- using the exchanged card at various locations. He further disclosed that he had concealed an amount of ₹7,000 to ₹10,000, along with two ATM cards at his residence. Upon his disclosure, cash amount of ₹7,600/- along with two ATM cards (related to the case) were recovered. The investigation of the instant case is still going on.
