LEH: To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra, Programme Coordinator for J&K, chaired a high-level preparatory meeting at Leh in the premises of Ladakh University to discuss and finalise arrangements for the upcoming celebrations to be held under the national initiative “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.” The meeting marks an important milestone in the series of programmes being organised by the Bharat Bharti Foundation across 150 universities in 150 cities throughout the country.

As part of this nationwide initiative, the University of Ladakh has been selected as one of the distinguished host institutions. The programme is scheduled to take place in the coming days and aims to highlight Sardar Patel’s enduring legacy of national integration, unity, and administrative vision. The event will bring together scholars, students, cultural groups, and community members to engage in discussions, cultural presentations, and academic exchanges centred on the values championed by the Iron Man of India.

The preparatory meeting, chaired by Prof. Mohtra, saw participation from key faculty members of the University of Ladakh, including Registrar Nawang Tundup and Assistant Professors Dr. Stanzin Mantok, Dr. Mohd Rafee, Ms. Shahar Bano, Dr. Abhishek Kumar, Dr. Jaffer Kabir, Dr. Amjad Hussain, Dr. Irshad Ahmed, Dr. Tsering Tashi, and Dr. Kailash Goswami. A large number of faculty members and students were also present, reflecting the university community’s enthusiasm for the forthcoming programme.

During the meeting, Prof. Mohtra emphasized the importance of celebrating Sardar Patel’s contributions in a manner that resonates with the youth and inspires a deeper understanding of India’s cultural and geographic diversity. He highlighted that Ladakh, with its rich heritage and strategic significance, offers a meaningful backdrop for such a national event.

He further underscored the role of academic institutions in strengthening the message of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, encouraging collaborative efforts, and promoting unity in diversity. “Sardar Patel’s vision continues to guide India’s journey as a unified nation. It is our responsibility to ensure that the younger generation appreciates and carries forward his ideals,” Prof. Mohtra said. The meeting had detailed review of programme components, responsibilities, and logistical planning, ensuring smooth execution of the upcoming events.
