REASI: The 150th anniversary of India’s National Song “Vande Mataram” was celebrated with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the DC Office Complex Reasi. The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik, followed by a band presentation of the National Anthem by the District Police Piping Brass Band.
The event, graced by the Deputy Commissioner as the Chief Guest, marked the beginning of a week-long series of cultural and patriotic programmes being organized across the district to commemorate the 150th anniversary of “Vande Mataram.” The live streaming of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address was also organized as part of the celebration.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the historical and cultural significance of “Vande Mataram” in India’s freedom struggle. She informed that the commemoration will be observed in four phases for one year — Phase 1: November 7 to November 14, 2025; Phase 2: January 19 to January 26, 2026 (Republic Day Week); Phase 3: August 7 to August 15, 2026 (Independence Day Week); and Phase 4: November 1 to November 7, 2026.
She added that the year-long celebration aims to rekindle the spirit of nationalism and unity among citizens, especially the younger generation. The programme featured soulful rendition of “Vande Mataram,” patriotic songs, besides vibrant cultural performances by students and local artists, showcasing India’s rich heritage and national pride. Students from different schools of the district also shared their thoughts on the significance of the National Song.
As a token of appreciation, mementos were presented to the participating students and performers. SSP Paramvir Singh; ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal; ADC Rakesh Kumar; CPO Narinder Kumar and other officers were present.
